I don't read in bed but I like the extra light on my books when I'm just reading on the couch. Anyway, the light is great. What's good: The light feels solid and the clip is strong enough to hold the book in place but not so tight as to damage it. The lamp has 3 light intensity settings. I only use the lowest and medium settings as I find the highest settings too bright. Light quality is good and diffuse enough to illuminate an open 7" x 9" book on both sides without harsh gradients or repetitive adjustments. The light is warm (yellowish rather than blue) in color and cool to the touch. I've read complaints that over time the gooseneck can loosen enough that it moves on its own. But at the moment it works fine and stable. There are two LES charging indicators that show the charging status when the device is connected and charging. What could be better: There is an on/off/brightness slider. My only complaint is that if I were to put this in a bag, it would be difficult to avoid pressing the button and dying the battery. Overall I give this five stars. It's not perfect, but it's the best book light I've seen and definitely worth the $13 paid.
