This is a well designed canister filter (303b) that perhaps uses less durable materials than I'm used to. The instructions are practically useless. Poor packaging choices resulted in significant cleaning prior to use. All in all I really think this is a reliable product. I'm deducting a star, I think it's inappropriate for a good product that comes with little fuss. After unpacking, the interior was very dusty due to poorly packaged ceramic stuff being packed into the filter during shipping, which is possibly the dumbest thing ever. i could think Rinse several times for very fine dust later, especially around the impeller and rubber O-ring (it is recommended to reapply silicone grease to the O-ring if similar cleaning is required or if you find a leak around the seal between the Having the top and bottom of the canister part itself, that's probably your culprit.) After that, the rest of the installation was pretty easy. I like the space for media. I see in other reviews here how many arrange their media in a weird order. This type of filter allows water to pass from the bottom up, so the mechanical filament should be on the bottom (basic bottom layer, thin top layer) and the biological or chemical media should be on the higher shells. Personally, I've only used mechanical in the bottom bowl, biobeads and ceramic in the second bowl for beneficial bacteria, and the final tier is a bagged purigen that's only 50% full to ensure maximum liquid contact. before closing the canister, simplified refilling. After about 30 seconds of working with the fill button I had a good flow, plugged in and done. No leaks, no fuss. I have excellent hearing, particularly for electronic hums and the like, I have to put my ear a foot away from the unit to pick up a hum after the usual hiss of air has dissipated. The UV light worked, a nice perk. 24 hours of use per week should be sufficient for measurable benefits and will significantly extend lamp life. If this suction cup works for several more years with proper maintenance, I will be very happy with this purchase.
