I am medium size. What should fit according to their size chart. I have a waist size 32 and above average. For sportswear. Landing on them is terrible. For them to fit properly I would need xx small. The length is about mid-calf and offers plenty of space. The stitching and durability appear to be good. These shorts are not soft. You're thinking about what single-ply tissue paper or cheap paper towels look like. I won't be sending them back because it's not worth the hassle. And I'll wear them on the days nobody sees them. But in fact, they fit so badly they almost look like a joke.
