I've never had a GoPro pole as versatile as this! I bought the SmaPole X1 because it looked like a pretty nifty gadget to add to my GoPro gear. It has become very impressive. First off, let me say that fixed teeth are awesome! With all of the bolts tightened, the post feels like a unit. There is no vibration or noise at all. It doesn't have an ergonomic grip, but I suspect Smatree didn't come up with that to make it as compact as possible. When folded it is very compact. Small enough to fit in your pocket or camera bag without taking up much space. When folded it offers good footing even for those low angles. The coolest thing about this bar is the endless amount of customization you can have. It can be a great selfie stand, show stand, stabilizer, grip, tripod extender, stand, etc. I can even use it with a Pedco Ultra clamp. For the high price you will definitely get your money's worth. The only thing I don't like is the aluminum tripod mount. It takes a lot of tightening to keep the GoPro from moving when shooting rough. I will use plastic tripod mounts when using the pole in extreme conditions. Overall, this pole is definitely one of my favorite gadgets in my collection and I recommend it to anyone with an action camera.
