We have a very private backyard, so the child is used to playing in the water naked. However, we are preparing for a hike and knowing that he would have rivers and such, we knew that he needed to get used to wearing swimming trunks. He hated board shorts and didn't wear them. After trying them out a few times, he doesn't try to take them off and enjoys playing with them. The bonus is that they are so easy to put on and take off for a newly potty trained child with frequent rushes to the potty. Board shorts were a nightmare for this one. The rubber band in the waste strip is twisted on the inside, but so far it hasn't been a problem getting it back in place. There are no complaints about the price and comfort. Also, they are cute. Would buy again. He is about 50 pounds and about 4 feet tall.
