The cheap quality and 5mm size refers to the part of the zip tie not the pin which is almost 6mm.
The size given is not for the pin part of the zip tie but for the wrap part. The pin that goes in the hole is almost 6mm and I needed 5mm. The plastic part of the zip tie is brittle and breaks easily compared to what you would find at an auto manufacturer. I have several zip ties from the dollar store that are about the same quality. Avoid them unless you want something cheap and don't care about quality. They will withstand if not subjected to heavy loads.
