The UNI-T UT301A+ Infrared Thermometer is a compact device that comes with a thermometer, the required 9V battery, a carrying case and a simple instruction manual. Activating the device is as simple as folding the red part of the handle forward and inserting the 9V battery, then closing the handle. Pulling the trigger gives you a reading, although like me, you'll probably want to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit first. Consistency is most important, even beyond high accuracy, which is difficult with a household infrared thermometer. Luckily, UNI-T offers excellent consistency of temperature readings from the same location. I was able to get good readings from various air conditioner vents, behind TVs and game consoles, and other places I wanted to look for hot or cold spots. The temperature range of the thermometer is -25.6 to 788 degrees Fahrenheit (-32 to 420 degrees). Celsius) with an average response time of 250 ms. There are also readings and alarms for high/low temperatures and clogging measurements. The manual briefly describes the working distance and efficiency, as well as the emissivity (energy radiated) of various materials. In short, UNI-T offers everything a layman could need in such a device. This is highly recommended.
