Yes, it is annoying but it does not have to be damaging.Work from the back of the staple where the prongs are.I use a flathead screw driver to get under the prongs and lift them up.The I take pliers to straighten the prongs so they are standing up in the air.Tease each mat gently up the prongs. Only takes a few seconds.No noticeable holes.No strength required. I am an old woman and had the mats from package to car in less than 10 minutes.
