I did not buy this remote for its intended purpose of selfie still shots. I was testing out multi camera video using my smartphone as the third camera. In order to start shooting I have to start recording on two video cameras, my phone and my audio recorder. It's a lot of devices to manage. To simplify things I bought this remote to have one less thing to run around and hit the record button. It worked fine to start the recording but unfortunately the remote times out (turns off) after about 4 to 5 minutes and my phone stops recording. Since I cannot see the screen of the phone I dont know when it decides to stop recording.Otherwise, it does what its supposed to do. I just wish it would have a longer duration or perhaps a switch for battery saver mode and a longer duration mode. Of course this would cost more and probably not popular enough for this purpose to motivate the manufacturer to add this function.
