By that I mean its grinding material - Silicon Carbide (SiC - okay sorry). It may be the second hardest compared to diamond, but it also means it is very brittle and doesn't have the strength of grit. As a result, it holds sharp edges perfectly on your work piece, resulting in a very even finish. However, this also means that silicon carbide has a shorter service life than other granular materials such as aluminum oxide. Bottom line, this paper works best with light pressure, such as sanding rubber, glass, plastic, paint, sealants, refinishing, or sanding soft wood. My husband said that when used for its intended purpose it works as it should and is particularly good for hand sanding. The paper can be cut into a more appropriate shape and wrapped around fingers to focus on a small area. The price is nice too. Highly recommended!
