My 7 year old doesn't wear pants, but in the winter he wears them under shorts. Last year he had cheap ones that tore easily in the knees. We now have three pairs and the oldest lasted several months with almost daily washing and minimal wear. I can't tell which pair is a few months old and which pair he got for Christmas. The belt is comfortable (very picky kid!). The fabric is medium-thick and seems to pull up decently when it inevitably gets a hole in the knee. Definitely recommend.
