These bags are garbage. I figured it would help keep our clothes shrunk in carry-on luggage for a week's Europe vacation. I used a Dollar Tree brand space bag for my luggage to see if it would work. I could roll or suck the air out of my pocket for $1. My husband used this bag and pump. It took a while to pump out the air and it didn't seem overly compressed. I tried using a vacuum but that didn't work so we closed the valve. The pump (which makes noise and sounds like tormenting a puppy) broke down before we even went anywhere. I've used another of these bags on my daughter's clothes and found that it doesn't shrink so we will too. It turned out that the pump simply did not suck in air. Not sure how it stopped working after 1 packet in less than 10 minutes but we threw it away. You can use the slingshot method to force the air out of these bags, but they just don't work the way I was hoping or expecting. When we got to our first destination we opened my husband's bag and found it was reinflated so we ended up spending a lot of time with two bags that we got some use. Do yourself a favor and get something better.
