Very soft as it should be. Looks well tailored and doesn't wrinkle or leave threads on the jacket like some cheaper scarves do. However, let us be clear that this is a "Made in China" item and not an eco-friendly handmade product from Connecticut sheep as the seller assures you. Unlike some other cheaper wool scarves, you cannot see through this scarf. I will refrain from judging its warmth and reliability after testing it for a few weeks.
