They are very small but ultimately the perfect size for my use. I read the reviews and cooked for a few hours. They were excreting sediment and that basically kept them from surfacing. They continue to shed what looks like clear mucus even after weeks and weeks. Not sure what it is, but my betta doesn't cling to it and it doesn't seem to bother him or his water. I tried to get live aquatic plants to grow at the ends of the log. Plants root in tree trunks. But unfortunately the light in my small aquarium is not strong enough for my setup to grow plants. I'm sure it would look very nice in the best tank configuration if they were attached to the logs.
