Great addition to my shrimp tank!

They are perfect for my little shrimp! I recently decided to start a freshwater shrimp tank and I have to say it is a great addition and also great for rooting plants as an extra hiding place for the shrimp.

Perfect for my 3 gallon pool

Perfect for my 3 gallon pool. I transferred it to a water journal after 1-2 hours of cooking. the material looks good. *NOTE* Cook wood to remove tannins! Tannins color the water brown. Tannins are not harmful to fish, but 1-2 hours of boiling get rid of them, and the water quickly clogs the wood.

  • Weight
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Be careful with small fish/animals

I had these in my aquarium. They looked great but I saw one of my 4 catfish was missing. I checked the entire tank and didn't see them until I saw something shiny in one of the parts. I finally received it, but it finally passed the next day. If you have hermit crabs, be careful with their legs. And if you have a fish that's small enough to get stuck in the middle, also make sure it doesn't get stuck. Otherwise it's a great product and the tank looks pretty good!

Pros
  • Comfortable to use

  • Ok

Good product. Read lots of information.

Cholla wood conforms to the description. They are about 4 centimeters long and have different diameters in the middle. They are perfect for all my shrimp. Currently, the cholla chunks are soaked to remove some of the tannins (which turn your water brown, which is perfectly normal) and prepare them for cooking. They should be ready to go into my tanks in about a week. Neocaridina species love this wood very much so I can't wait to give them more hiding/feeding spots. I recommend this product and

Small - about the right size for my 1 gallon Beta tank.

They are very small but ultimately the perfect size for my use. I read the reviews and cooked for a few hours. They were excreting sediment and that basically kept them from surfacing. They continue to shed what looks like clear mucus even after weeks and weeks. Not sure what it is, but my betta doesn't cling to it and it doesn't seem to bother him or his water. I tried to get live aquatic plants to grow at the ends of the log. Plants root in tree trunks. But unfortunately the light in my small

Paradise for amano shrimp + they look amazing!

I have read that they are great for shrimp but have never used them before. Now I can confirm that my Amano shrimp love them and walk/nibbling on them all the time. They form a nice biofilm relatively quickly in a planted aquarium and also look great. To prepare them, I soaked them in purified aquarium water. I simply placed them in a red single cup (I bought small chopsticks), filled it with purified water, wrapped the cup in cling film and placed a small coffee saucer on top to make sure the…

Pros
  • Attracts surface biofilm/feeds fish and shrimp
Cons
  • Something else

3 pieces received that look almost exactly like the picture; all 4 inches long, one 1 1/8 inches in diameter, the medium PC is 3/4 inch in diameter, the smallest is 5/8 inch in diameter and will not rest on the bottom of the tank without weight. I cooked all three twice and soaked them twice overnight before placing the middle pc in a 5 gallon tank of red cherry shrimp. Even after all this, the water still turned a light brown hue within 24 hours of being placed in the aquarium. I'm not too…

Pros
  • Approximately 4" long and 0.5-1.25" in diameter
Cons
  • Quick instructions

Ideal for rhizomatous plants! Not so much for fish.

Update: After sitting in my aquarium for a few weeks I can honestly say they can be a death trap for any type of fish! In particular, I received the large cholla wood in my batch. My large zebrafish (Tom) got stuck in one of these. Thank goodness I was able to figure it out after trying desperately for 30 minutes. I wouldn't even notice he was gone, but Jerry (my other zebrafish) was acting weird. Swim to Cholla Forest and back. desperately trying to tell me his friend was in danger! If you're…
