Before ordering this product I read product reviews online and thought that some users were disappointed. However, the price was so cheap (Revain deal: only $30) that I thought it might be worth a try. I bought a large SD card that costs almost the same as an ION FILM2SD scanner! When I received the ION FILM2SD 35mm film and slide scanner it took about 2 minutes to assemble and I was ready to go, but the exact method of scanning to an SD card and then plugging it into my iMac using a USB Cable was a mystery. It took me a few more minutes to read the manual before I started using it and the manual was simple and straightforward; The scanner is very easy to use. In just a few minutes of use, I found:* It's much faster and easier than scanning photos with a flatbed scanner - no comparison!* If you don't clean your slides, the image quality will deteriorate. is "dirty", "hairy" or some other condition of the slide (on both sides).* Be sure to insert the slide so that its aspect ratio matches the aspect ratio of the scanner, otherwise the image will be cropped. *I do I don't know how to fix the advertised 5 megapixel resolution as the scans changed size no matter what I did. Sometimes you had to use Photoshop to rotate or flip to get the photo right side up and left side to the left. * Transferring images to a computer using a USB cable was much faster than I expected. Not screaming fast, just good, fast.* On the rare occasion the slides wouldn't feed properly, so I just pulled out the feeder, ejected it manually and started over.* Multiple 35mm slides fast and in one holder being able to stack them to rescan was a great feature. Although unfamiliar with the scanner, in a few hours I scanned maybe 150 slides, imported them into the computer and processed them in Photoshop to properly align and enhance the color and light. image balance. Sometimes I found the slides weren't as clean as I thought and I would just Photoshop the scratches or smudges instead of trying to find the 35mm slide and rescan. one. Too bad because I would like to try it. Overall, the ION FILM2SD 35mm film and slide scanner is a fun product that has allowed me to digitally remaster some family slides from the 1950s-1980s. They were like lost memories that somehow magically returned to your mind in rich and vivid colors.
