I argued for a long time about this purchase as I have a teflon wok but it has to be changed every 2 years. Will switching to cast iron make my life easier, or will it create more work for me because I can't clean it in the dishwasher? If you're wondering if a cast iron wok is worth the money, the answer is YES. I highly recommend this product. If you're wondering about cleaning, a well-aged cast iron skillet doesn't require a lot of "elbow grease" or dishwasher (instead, just some running water, a LIGHT touch of soap, a rinse, and then a quick LIGHT coat of oil). - never longer than 2-3 minutes from start to finish). I was concerned about this purchase because I am used to cooking with cast iron which is 80-100 years old and passed down from generation to generation in my family. - Everything was cared for with love and now I'm adding to the collection! Lodge is a good brand and I know there are no pollutants/toxins in the materials. The wok arrived perfectly seasoned! I washed it, brushed with coconut oil and seasoned it (just "just in case"), then made fried rice - it was PERFECT! Just like what they do in the restaurant! (My teflon pan has NEVER worked so well! It couldn't get the right temperature/give me the caramelization of rice, meat and veggies like a cast iron pan!) And last but not least, IT WAS SO EASY TO CLEAN! very high quality product. If you're new to a cast-iron skillet, you know that when you buy it, you're starting a family tradition: buy it, make great meals and memories, and your grandchildren will think of you fondly every time they use it for cooking .
