Files get corrupted when using this USB hub

This hub is not reliable. I use it with a MacBook and Adobe Lightroom to import photos from an SD card, XQD card or CF card to my primary hard drive and a backup hard drive. About half the time I get a "disk not ejected properly" error message on a MacBook. Then I continued the import and everything seemed fine. However, later when I looked at my photos, many of them were corrupted and unreadable on hard drives. They are perfectly legible on the camera card, which means something happened during the import process.
