Review on πŸ’Ύ Inateck Aluminum SATA Hard Drive Docking Station, USB 3.0 SSD Dock, Dual Bay, FD2102 by Edy Yukface

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Data transfer performance was 15% slower than a plain Inatech USB-SATA 3.0 cable.

I am a person who constantly measures the speed of a hard drive. Using a $20 Inateck USB 3.0 SATA Single Drive Adapter with a power cable, I can get my Western Digital 74 GB drive at 10,000 rpm read and write speeds of 88 MB/s and 91 MB/s. (Yes, for some weird reason, this disc has a faster write speed). With this docking station from Inateck, the same drive runs at 59 MB/s reading and 70 MB/s writing. I ran the test several times and got the exact same result. I even tried different USB 3.0 ports on my computer and got exactly the same results. This means that this device reduces USB 3.0 speed by 15%. I give 2 stars because it works. But there is no need to sacrifice performance compared to other Inateck products. I'll have to send it back and just buy another Inateck USB 3.0 to SATA adapter and give up the cleanliness that comes with nice docking of drives. Does anyone know of another dual bay docking station that actually works well?
