Approaching Perfection.

TL;DR: The best 3.5 inch case I could find at any price point. Buy It Now. I only received it today so my experience with it so far is limited. But that's all I dreamed of when I ordered it. Here are some key details: Pros: Size: It's big enough to hold your standard 3.5 inch hard drive. Not enough room for the drive to wiggle there, but not tight enough to force it. Cooling. Unlike many others, this is a solid aluminum (or some type of metal) case, so heat dissipates very well. It continuously transfers files for 4 hours straight and only gets slightly warm. For a fanless case, that's impressive. Quality: The thing is reliable. The tips are plastic, but the body itself is a solid piece of metal that's going nowhere. The connections look very secure inside and out. No exposed cables or anything like that. The drive is securely mounted but also has holes to attach the drive to the case so you don't have to worry about it rattling there. The power button feels solid, unlike many cases I've had before. USB 3.0 B connector I've never seen before. Obviously, it carries a lot of power along with high-speed data. The cable that came with it fits but isn't compatible with anything else I personally have, but any standard printer cable will give you USB 2.0 capability in case you lose the one that came with it. Cons: The only real downside is that the screws to remove the front panel to insert a drive are a bit small. Even the small screwdriver I used exposed one of the two screws a bit, so keep an eye on it. Other notes: It has a faint little LED that glows green and flashes red and amber when active. For me, darkness is ideal, but if you want to see it in bright areas, it's not very good. It says it can use drives up to 8TB. I can vouch for up to 3TB. It works with both NTFS (Windows) and HFS (Mac) file systems without drivers (some other cases require a driver for one or the other).

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Trade-in
