Access to a larger aperture and faster lens is a game changer. I can get a lot more bokeh because I have access to a shallower depth of field. This prime lens is also much sharper than the 35mm wide angle kit lens. I've never tried to simulate bokeh in post, but now I know I probably never will. Nikon and Canon have been in the lens game for a while, but Sony has really stepped up their game lately. And you get a lot better use of Sony's autofocus than you can with a third-party lens. I plan to use this lens for landscapes but I also used it for my roommate's portrait and it looks very sharp and professional. Very happy with this purchase. (Minor concern: I heard this weird noise when turning on the camera the second time I used this lens. Does anyone know what it could be?)
