The two devices I received are almost identical. they were measured at the ends and in the middle of each side. The 1 inch sides measured .9997 to .9998 end to end. The 2" and 3" sides were even throughout. Graduation is a whole different story. has a deeper bevel than the center, looks like it was hand filed or sanded in a hurry Bevels and hole edges have casting defects and are rough Surfaces have many scuffs and scratches I can't comment on that. For the price, I don't see these blocks being made out of any form of tool steel. maybe some form of reclaimed cast iron? A file on one of the edges slightly bites into both blocks, leaving them anecdotally soft. I'm an amateur and for what I do these blocks are a steal at $16. All the problems I see are cosmetic only. Perhaps if you spend some time cleaning them up these little gems can look and work well for a fraction of the cost of even msc's value collection blocks.
