I was expecting a real paper cutter with a blade. This item has no blade at all. Instead it has a 1/4 inch metal rod that cuts or slices as it is lowered. I thought I might be missing a blade, but looking back at the photos in the listing found it was the same thing, just a thick metal bar. I wasn't expecting much when I discovered this, but I tried a few things before deciding. I can easily and evenly cut chipboard and cardboard, as well as a sheet of paper. I'm a little shocked by this bladeless cutting method and didn't think a thick metal bar could work properly, but it works. Even the included instructions refer to sharpening the blade, which is even more confusing. I am happy with the cut test and will keep this item as it is a good size ratio compared to more well known brand names and suitable for my simple purposes. One of the non-functional features on this board is a "position block" that needs to be slid over the top. It doesn't work, it moves with force and has to be screwed in and out after forcing it to "slide" to the mark you want to block.
