Ideal for replacing the obsolete one on our 1993 trailer tent where the old one is hanging by wires. This one is larger and new holes had to be drilled to mount it. But it was just as easy with a drill and the right bit, screwdriver and elastic glue. I just reused the screws that came with the previous bracket when I removed the old one. This porch light comes with a clear lens. We found this to be too bright, so I turned the flat light bar down a little more, replaced the transparent one, and used amber instead. We haven't used it for hiking yet, but it works on a 12v system and we're very happy with it. I hope the plastic used will withstand the UV and other sunlight these devices are exposed to. Overall I like it and would buy it again.
