They are not as soft as I would like but they work very well and fit perfectly on the mattress even when layered. I like to throw in a waterproof cover, a sheet, another cover and then a second sheet to make changing cribs easier in the middle of the night (perfect for potty training toddlers in a crib) and the extra thickness wasn't no Fit issue. The only thing is that they don't last long. One of the sheets had the elastic falling apart after 8 washes (I wash all children's clothes on a delicate, so too bad) and the second sheet had its elastic falling apart after 15-17 washes.
