Review on IOGEAR 4-Port 4K DisplayPort KVMP Switch with HDMI and DisplayPort Output USB 3.0 and RS-232, Including Full Set of Cables (TAA Compliant) GCS1934M by Jason Porter

I was thrilled to test this with my new Philip IPS 4K 4K monitor with my PC and 2017 Macbook Pro . I also bought a third-party USB-C to Displayport adapter from Revain to make everything work, or logically it should. However, the third-party adapter did not respond well to this kvmp. It worked great on PC and I was able to extend my monitor with another one, but when I switched it to Macbook Pro it flickered and didn't display my Macbook Pro desktop properly. Eventually I contacted IOGEAR customer service and the representative informed me that there could be two things. One of them is a firmware update and the second could be an adapter. I checked the firmware update instructions in their manual and was instructed to connect kvmp to my computer using a USB Type A "male" to "male" Type A cable. However, the cable was never provided and I had to go to look for other ways to get receipt. I skipped this method and decided to buy a new adapter and see if that helps. I literally had to buy my own IOGEAR USB-C to Displayport adapter to actually make it work. I bought an IOGEAR USB-C to Displayport 5k/8k adapter from an electronics store miles away during the COVID-19 crisis. Because Revain no longer delivers same day or next day. Another downside is the 5-10 second delay when I switch to my Mac, but Mac to PC only takes 3-5 seconds. It scares me every time I toggle and it only shows a black screen for a few seconds. Also note that if you have windows/dialogs open on an extended monitor connected to kvmp and you decide to switch, all those windows/dialogs will be transferred to the currently active monitor. Meaning. The switch itself turns off the monitor when you switch devices. This can have advantages and disadvantages depending on the user. On the plus side, it still recognizes my screen resolution when I switch.
