Review on Laser printer Brother HL-L2340DWR by Micha Maciejowicz ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wonderful quality, one hundred percent satisfied!

I was looking for a printer for the home, to replace the old inkjet. Needed network printing and seamless printing from an Android phone. Initially, I considered cheaper printers, without duplex printing, but this one was a good discount. Came with firmware 1.06 out of the box, immediately ated to 12022, connected via Wi-Fi in five minutes, just select the network, enter the password and install the driver on the computer. You can not even enter a password, but connect via WPS or AOSS, if the router supports them. About printing from Android: I installed the Brother Print Service Plugin from Google Play and I print directly from applications that support this function (These are Gmail, Google Docs, Drive, Photos and many others). There is also the Brother iPrint&Scan app, but I don't need it. Please note that Brother Print Service Plugin requires Android 5.0 or later to install. Morpia and Google Cloud Print services also work fine. (The latter is enabled only through the web interface.) In Brother devices, the toner container and the photoconductor are placed in separate blocks, which was a novelty for me. I don’t know how economically profitable it is, but it’s definitely easier to refill than, for example, HP cartridges. Declared yield of DR-2335 drum unit - 12022 pages, TN-2335 cartridges - 1200 pages, TN-2375 - 2600 pages, starter cartridge - 700 pages. If you want to refill the starter cartridge, you need to purchase a "counter reset flag". And do not throw away the orange protective cover of the developer shaft, it will dirty everything around. But I didn’t find repair kits for restoring the drum unit: I’ll probably have to buy a new original when the time comes. Who complained that after the end of the toner the printer completely blocks printing - no need to shake the cartridge, do not waste your energy. Instead, try changing the "Change Toner" option from "Stop" to "Continue Printing" in the printer menu (or via the web interface). There are also models with Ethernet in this series, so these machines are just right for a small office.

Pros
  • Automatic two-sided printing. Large, covered paper tray. Excellent integration with Android. Intelligent web-interface, not a buggy driver. Warms up and prints fairly quickly. There is a fan for forced cooling, so you can print a lot. Cartridge without a chip, with a mechanical print counter.
Cons
  • Small, single line, deeply recessed display. Working with it is inconvenient, it's good that the same settings are present in the web interface. The Wi-Fi Direct function does not work well: phones (Nexus 5 and Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini) did not connect to the printer the first time. Maybe I did something wrong, because through the Wi-Fi hotspot all devices connect normally. The manual feed slot cover creaks. The plastic looks cheap and not durable. (It's good that at least it's not glossy.) As usual, there is no USB cable.
