I stopped buying disposable straws but still wanted to use them in my everyday smoothies and protein shakes. I wasn't sure I'd like the hard plastic feel, but it doesn't seem to bother me. I chose them because they are transparent and smooth, which makes them very easy to care for. They even fit into the lid of my thermal mug with little effort. This is not good for people who like to chew straws, otherwise they will break. Oops, lesson learned lol.
