It's nice not having to worry about cuts when cleaning dishwasher-safe knives. Just hold it with normal pressure while the other hand extends the paring knife. Great for cleaning chopsticks! My husband once ended up in intensive care after stabbing himself with a sharp kitchen knife while washing his hands. This will prevent this from happening again. My 97-year-old mother, who doesn't have (or want to) a dishwasher; washes all his dishes by hand. She has small hands and could use this brush without any problems. Makes me less worried about her washing her sharp knives with her hands; because she still cooks herself. This year, my mother is sending them to relatives as Christmas gifts.
