Best Budget Intel Motherboard

This was a solid, very forgiving motherboard for a first build. Everything went together smoothly and after a double check, the system booted up perfectly the first time I turned it on. I've used the following in my build and they all work well so far: - Cougar MX330-G mid-tower case with tempered glass window - Intel Core i5-9400 (6-core 2.9GHz with integrated graphics) - Corsair semi-modular PSU CX550M 80+ Bronze 550W - 2 x Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 (3000Hz) RAM - yes I like lots of RAM - Samsung 860 EVO SSD (250GB) - Acer SA230 FHD Monitor - Corsair Gaming Mouse and Logitech Wireless Laptop from a previous system. Could have spent a little less but opted for a little more weight than originally expected for the processor, power supply and storage. That said, everything fitted well, all connectors were clearly labeled, and even a bit of RGB lighting on the board is a nice touch (although I doubt I'll delve into everything). Works with Linux Mint boot flash. -disk into the front USB port, and after a few key presses it was able to boot quickly. Installed Linux Mint (MATE) on an SSD in less than 5 minutes, removed the stick and has taken less than 10 seconds to boot since. I don't play that much but do video and programming stuff instead so this is great for my needs now. Eventually I'll add an M2 SSD, a larger HDD and another 32GB of storage (yes!) before considering it's done. At least a larger monitor and possibly a budget graphics card. The mainboard has to handle all of this. I didn't even have to mess with the BIOS, but I will. GREAT product for the price, the extra durability was needed once or twice (build first, what can I say!) I'm quite a happy customer!

Pros
  • Highest support and durability ratings from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
