I like to use this type of support for all types of hardware repairs, it's great for hoods and tailgates but also great for holding other types of access panels and doors open. I've worked with commercial hardware that had access doors that had to be held open and this support works great. I have used this support while doing rehab work in the kitchen and bathroom. This support works well when you need to keep the panel open or provide additional support when working alone and there is no room to mount a bungee.
