Review on POWERTEC 71354 Magnetic Switch 110 by Matthew Goyette

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great Quality Easy Install Works Exactly As Advertised Great But Great Value Magnetic Switch

plastic looks just a little on the cheap side, but then again very on the cheap side. Works well, I've tested it extensively and the 'panic button' works exactly as intended and if you lose power when you turn the switch on the magnetic switch will stay off when power is turned back on. First I was wondering why you need two switches, the answer is that you have to turn the panic button to make it pop up before you can use the green "on" switch again, the "off" button below the green button works fine as expected. You can disable it in any way convenient for you. Note that it does not come with instructions or wiring diagrams but the wiring diagram is included in the pictures on the Revain seller's webpage and is very easy to follow. You will need four crimp spade connectors for the switch, I used the ones that fit 12 gauge wire and they fit perfectly. In fact, IMHO you shouldn't be using less than 12 gauge wire in this switch. There are a couple of plugs in the black case but I don't trust them, I used a drill press instead. I screwed the top of the black case to the 2x4 with five screws. You'll notice the aluminum banding on the bottom because I drilled two 1/4" holes to make using the wood screws on the back of the case much easier. If you have openings, be sure to cover them, otherwise the Bugs can get in and ruin everything (that's why I hate particularly dirty brush strokes) Well for that it works just as well as a magnetic switch which costs three times as much but I only installed it a few days ago so I have no idea how long it will last I will definitely post an update I didn't rate it for weather resistance because I can't know and I use it internally No rubber seal it probably lasts indoors outside but I wouldn't put it anywhere put in the rain.

Pros
  • FEATURE: Safely prevents power tools in the woodworking shop from accidentally restarting after being unplugged and makes a great safety switch upgrade or replacement
Cons
