Review on Bellemain Adjustable Thickness Cheese Slicer - Premium Stainless Steel Cutting Wire - 1-year Warranty (Silver) by Jeremy Gaines

It can be used to make the best cuts for cheese

Bought this Bellemain cheese cutter in October 2019. I use it daily to cut 1-3 slices off the end of a tillamook cheddar cheese. The first slicer lasted 173 days (5 months 3 weeks). When the first wire broke I put in a new wire and it broke in just 4 days. Disappointing. I would rate the quality of the handle and roller on this Bellemain cheese slicer as top notch A, they should last a lifetime. In fact, the Bellemain handle and roller are of better quality than any other cheese slicer we've had, and we've had several over the past few decades. However, Bellemain cheese cutting wire is class C. Will the wire break? Yes. For me, the two original cutting wires that came with Bellemain each lasted an average of 89 days. an average of 3 months? I don't think it's very good. When the second wire broke so quickly, I thought about buying another cheese slicer. After much deliberation, I instead purchased 10 feet of high quality German-made piano wire from the Howardpiano company, wire size 10 (0.024 inch). It took me three tries, but I replaced the wire with the brass ferrules that came with the original slicer wires. I now have a deluxe slicer and don't expect my wire to break anytime soon. It's about cutting two types of wire with diagonal wire cutters.) Bottom line: if you're a little forgiving, you can replace the wire itself with a much better one, and you'll get an unrivaled cut for cheese. Wire should be cut to 4-3/4" to 4-7/8" length. Use needle nose pliers to bend the ends (after threading through the brass ends) to prevent the wire from falling out. If you do everything right, the wire will be taut when you install it on the cutter and not slack.
