After four months of use the coating came off the roller leaving a black coating on the cheese. Overall quality seemed so good at first but didn't hold up very well. Very disappointing.

the wired system is terrible for it. The overall quality of the grip is excellent but there is no way to replace the wire if it breaks and it broke after a few uses. Now we have a great grip, but it doesn't cut cheese. It was very expensive 20 slices of cheese.

The thing is BIG AND HEAVY, which is good. It has a strong wire that's easy to change out if needed and a large reel that I think improves cutting. Beautiful appearance, solid construction. However, the cutting wire tends to loosen. This leads to uneven slices when using the food slicer. This also calls into question the ultimate durability of the wire itself. The thickness adjuster also tends to slip unless screwed in very tight, then making it difficult to loosen to set to a new thickness. The overall design of the food slicer is pretty good but there is one design flaw which I will talk about later. Here is my analysis: 1) Slicer wire ends are company property and you cannot use spare wire in the product. Bought this Bellemain cheese cutter in October 2019. I use it daily to cut 1-3 slices off the end of a tillamook cheddar cheese. The first slicer lasted 173 days (5 months 3 weeks). When the first wire broke I put in a new wire and it broke in just 4 days. Disappointing. I would rate the quality of the handle and roller on this Bellemain cheese slicer as top notch A, they should last a lifetime.
