Beautiful appearance, solid construction. However, the cutting wire tends to loosen. This leads to uneven slices when using the food slicer. This also calls into question the ultimate durability of the wire itself. The thickness adjuster also tends to slip unless screwed in very tight, then making it difficult to loosen to set to a new thickness. A conceptually good product with a beautiful design that lacks actual performance. Next Review: Downgraded my original rating from 3 stars to 1 because the wire cutting problem is getting worse. It looks like the wire itself is bending or possibly stretching as the distance between the spool and the cutting wire is now changing. Narrow on bars and a big belly in the middle. This makes slicing difficult and results in uneven thickness of the same slice. Very disappointing for a product with such a high rating.
