I needed this to replace the hand winch on a deer feeder hoist. It directly bolted this winch onto the hoist where the other one came off. This works well and easily hoists a deer feeder barrel w/300lbs of corn and holds it suspended in the air for up to a month or more at a time between refills. The winch has not failed me yet, the price was good and I would recommend this winch to other buyers. Since my last winch did not last really much longer than a couple of years, I will hold off describing the longevity of this product. If this winch continues to work as it is, I will come back and upgrade my review to 5 stars.Update 8Dec20: I have been using this winch for about six months on my deer feeder hoist. The switch has already started to slip & fail. The other day when putting it up the directional switch slipped sending my feeder straight down and the handle spinning uncontrollably. I thought it broke my hand at first, but just bruised it. If you need a winch for 300lbs, get a 1000lb winch. They just do not stand up to loads near what they are rated at.
