A docking station (with connectivity) that plays with the big dogs

I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro after abandoning my 2014 Retina model due to the (still) outdated connectors. I knew I would need a lot of keys when it came time to upgrade. I've started researching USB-C docking stations, and not many of them are Mac-only (don't cost a few hundred dollars) or have a decent number of ports. I still use VGA and Ethernet regularly, and most thin docking stations only come with one or the other. Both worked great out of the box, it's really nice to have Gigabit Ethernet again. Lots of USB, 2 2.0 and 2 3.0. The 2. 0's work well with my keyboard and mouse and the 3.0's had no problems connecting to an external HD. The SD and MicroSD slots are also a bonus as I had one of these MicroSD cards in my old MBP. Read/write speeds matched the speeds advertised on the cards, and hard drive speeds were compared using just a USB-C-to-A dongle. The device gets quite hot, but it's no different than the Apple AC adapter, which gets hot when charging a dead battery while gaming. This was after 8 hours of continuous use at work, so it stands up to the test of a typical workday. The 3.5mm headphone jack works like any other USB audio output. This is a nice addition to my personal setup. It also shows up as an input device, but I don't have headphones with a built-in mic to test this feature. The build feels great and there is a bit of weight. It's about Space Gray (I'm guessing) as I have a silver MPB model. All in all, this is a fantastic docking station that will be handy and indispensable in my daily work for years to come!
