Life in Minne-snow-ta is a must. Keep salt, sand, snow and in summer sand and mud off the bottom of my car (Pilot 2018, 8 seats). The mechanism under the clips is a bit finicky and larger than previous versions I've had on other cars of the same make. This makes cleaning much easier than with a carpet. You can wall mount them in a hand washing machine and rinse them off. Or bring them home for a scrub. Or even a driveway. Dish soap is great for my purposes and also gives me more confidence when my kids' snacks and toys fall on the floor - they're touching a lot of unknown chemicals when they fall on the floor. It's worth it if you're looking for easier cleaning and a sleeker look. .
