Insulated layer melts/bubbles when you finally get the aluminum hot enough to melt solder
The general guidance is to heat the backside of the aluminum plate until it's finally hot enough to melt solder to the pads. Well, if you do that, it has to get so hot that the insulated coating on the top starts melting and bubbling away. Unless there's some kind of super-low-temperature solder I'm unaware of, I don't see how these can possible work well.
- Works for my flashlight project.
- The aluminum material may corrode over time, reducing its effectiveness in cooling the LED chips
