Printed a bit off center and a bit rough die punch but extra thick and works great for making up a few one watt, 3 or 5 watt emitters.

From my early assessment, these alone won't dissipate enough heat for 5w LED but if you mount them to some aluminum, they seem to work great. Great fit for the 5w chanzon LED. Having 2 additional solder pads on + and - make wiring in series or parallel a breeze.

My original grow light was constructed without these mounting plates and the LEDs failed after about 100 - 150 hours. Without the plates the chips will start to draw excessive current and eventually burn up. I mounted 4 plates to a sheet of aluminum using ArcticAluminum thermal epoxy then installed the LEDs. The general guidance is to heat the backside of the aluminum plate until it's finally hot enough to melt solder to the pads. Well, if you do that, it has to get so hot that the insulated coating on the top starts melting and bubbling away. Unless there's some kind of super-low-temperature solder I'm unaware of, I don't see how these can possible work well.

Yes it is true they are easy to solder, but they have two minor flaws and a big one. First. There are two of the six soldering spots that are intended to be the diode soldering spots. You realize that after you have 4 or 5 diodes soldered on the spots are not the right ones. Why not a picture or a draw inside the package?. Second. When you put the diode on the heat sink you loose the +- marks, because they are bellow the diode, you can just see a little pars of the plus or minus and need to…

These are the perfect companion for the little Chanzon pill style LED lights. You will need soldering skills and some heat sink compound. I believe I saw them available with the LEDs pre-mounted but the reviews complained about the centering of the bulbs on the sinks. If this is important to you, I suggest buying them separately and mounting the bulbs yourself.

Worked better than then expected. Used solder paste and a hot air soldering tool and heated the bottom of the heat sink. Worked perfectly. I suppose you could use a lighter torch and get the same result. Heat sinks do their job.

The 1W 6000k diodes probably don't require this level of heat management if operated in the open air, but they do warm these heat sinks up. These provide great heat dissipation, easy to read polarity markings. large solder tabs for power inputs and jumpers and a professional look. Worth the price. The downside is that there are too many in the package and now I need mare diodes!

these were exactly as described and have worked very well for me with their 3W Leds.i cannot do reflow soldering so i bought thermal plaster and the leds are staying cool, albeit i am only driving them at 50% so far. but several days of 16 hrs/day use and no noticeable heating.

Teflow soldered Chanzon rgbw let's using a heat gun. Process takes about 5 minutes. No complaints.Don't expect this sink to dissipate the heat of all for dies at full power! The sink will need to be mounted to a much larger thermal dissipating surface for that. If you are using pwm to achieve various colors at a much lower total current draw that might not be needed.

So long as what you are soldering has the correct pin spacing you should be fine. If not adjust the leads before trying to solder or you will curse a lot. The spacing is fairly standard so most of the time you will be fine.I used solder paste and a hot air station. You CAN solder by hand, but getting the bottom pad that way can be tricky.
