To be honest, BroadLink has been one of the most buggy and frustrating software/hardware/cloud services I've implemented. That being said, it offers more features for its price than anything else (for my use) at this price point. I have had 2 BroadLink IR blasters for many years now. I recently tried 3 of their smart plugs. I bought a set with an additional hub, not realizing that one of my existing devices could be its hub. As I delved deeper into home automation (gates, curtains, location, scheduling, indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity triggers, light, sound and motion sensors, IFTTT, etc.), I continued to crave something you've always dreamed of. : A single screen (or ideally multiple screens) app where I can customize buttons for a variety of brands. This device is the second, if not the best, option. I'm also getting more and more annoyed with yelling at them, as well as privacy concerns considering I have an Echo in every room as it's great for affordable home audio. With these knobs I will gradually start to mute some of the echoes and eventually I want to learn how to open them and cut the cable to the mic - that's well over my paycheck lol. I put mine on 1. handset louder 5 2. quieter 5 3. living room light on 4th light off. I found this device to be easy to set up ONLY based on the review I read here. I set everything up according to the instructions, Alexa automatically recognized all 4 buttons (yes, how weird is the movement?), created all my subprograms and then nothing worked. I followed the advice of a review I read and rediscovered on Alexa (add device, scroll down to "Other"). He told me there were no new devices, but the buttons started working right away. Once I'm done with this review I will be buying 2 more of these. If this review resonates with you, buy it yesterday. Fiction.
