Repels water, which is key to minimizing bacteria. I don't need to check the bacterial levels, but the sponge doesn't get slippery like traditional sponges. The peeling side works well. We also tried synthetic sponge, but it only lasted about a week before it started falling apart. The packaging is not a big issue for me as switching to these sponges is a better option for my family's health than traditional sponges. Life is about taking steps forward, not magically reaching perfection on a unicorn. Maybe they'll find a better packaging option in the future, but I suspect seed funding is limited. Competition and increased sales should give them more options. I would say support them so they can tweak the product and explore the best packaging options.
