I bought one of these Red Cross Eton Rover wind up radios primarily because I needed a crank operated NOAA band radio. The LED flashlight is a plus. A cell phone charger could be great (there is a standard USB port and a mini USB port protected by a rubber stopper so the USB cable to charge my phone fits securely) but I haven't tried charge my phone with it. Nevertheless, I give this radio a full 5 stars. Why? Bought 2 1/2 years ago. When I first got it, I turned it on to make sure it worked, then threw it in the closet. About a year later we were going on a road trip, so I threw it next to the spare tire in the back of a Subaru. At this point I booted it up and tested again to make sure it was working. He's been in the car ever since (about a year and a few months I think) - definitely he's been there on some of the hottest days and lately some of the coldest (Wisconsin, so I'm talking 110F and minus 10F). Today I had a chance to pull it out of the back of a Subaru and bring it inside. I expected the battery to die. But while wearing it, I accidentally hit the switch and the radio came on. I then tested the LED, which also worked. Mind you, I haven't performed it since I ever did. So not bad I would say. For fun I tried to get a NOAA weather station and yes it works great too. So yes, for $23-$30, 5 stars. No problem. By the way, the LED flashlight works great. I have an old flashlight with a different type of bulb (xenon? halogen? dunno but can't replace it right now) and the ETON LEDs are good enough for emergency lighting. Again, I didn't try the charging function. As I said, I just wanted a radio with a weather section, but was happy to get a lot more for the price.
