Review on Beck Arnley 072 8423 Master Cylinder by Chris Elam

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Pushrod access too flat

I installed this master cylinder on a 1987 Nissan 300ZX. The rear brakes did not release after adjusting the brake booster to the minimum length. My state requires a safety check to renew a vehicle registration, so I ended up taking the car to a Nissan dealership to have what I thought might be a faulty booster or booster pushrod fixed. The mechanic found that the booster was working within limits and the length of the booster slide was within limits, and yet he was trying to get this part to work. Finally he measured the tappet access depth on this master cylinder and found that the depth was 3.8mm less which caused the rear brakes to remain locked after I applied the brakes. This master cylinder was identical to the original Nissan part except for the push rod access depth. Either Revane was wrong when he said this part would fit my 1987 Nissan 300ZX or the part was defective. I am unable to return the defective item as I am outside the return window. I am disappointed with the whole experience as I paid for this part and then had to pay the dealer for the same part plus installation to get my vehicle through the MOT before getting a late registration penalty.
