Review on πŸ”ͺ Stanley 16 981 FatMax Chisel - 2 Inch Blade for Precision Woodworking Tasks by Mike Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great tool for the average carpenter

Most of my woodwork is done with power tools. However, you always need good tools of the trade to get the job done. I had an old set of 3 medium chisels that I used as needed. As my skills have increased I have decided to get myself a good complete set of chisels. I searched major stores, browsed catalogues, and read woodworking magazines and forums. I didn't need top-notch chisels. The Stanley FatMax chisels were reasonably priced so I bought a set of 6 tools and then 3 more sizes. I sharpened the chisels a bit on sandpaper mounted on glass with a honing guide. These chisels sharpen very well and cut perfectly.

Pros
  • Hardened high carbon steel blade for edge retention
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
