Yes, D-Link's stock firmware is terrible, but in terms of functionality, this thing is pretty decent for the money. The main purpose of this purchase was to find something better than my current Arris SBG6900, which is a great modem but not as great a router. The AC speed is faster with D-Link and the Wi-Fi connection hasn't dropped since I've had this thing. Now if I had to mess with the D-Link factory firmware I would probably only give it three starts, but this router is DD-WRT compatible. Just flash the firmware through the D-Link site, which by the way wasn't easy to set up initially. There was this tuning cycle after which it didn't save any tuning settings and continued with the initial tuning. With the DD-WRT firmware on this thing, this router has proven to be excellent.
