Great for the money. Don't use the lid notches for sighting, use the sighting lens! Sighting notches / lid is a little off, but the sighting lens was dead on (on mine). Other notes: Heavy and stout, not for backpacking. Won't lay flat due to bottom ring, but this is not a base plate compass. No declination adjustments, you will have to do the math. Carry pouch is nice addition, but I wonder if it will be durable.If your deep backpacking in back country without GPS and counting on a compass to save your life, you shouldn't be looking at a $10 compass to begin with. But for just about anyone else, this should do just fine as long as you use the sighting lens, or sight with the compass dial and do not use the lid notches.
