Review on πŸ”ͺ Freud SD208 8-Inch Premium Dado Blade (No Longer Available) by Demian Shah

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My first dado stack is a Guardian!

This is my first set of dado blades. This is on my 10 inch Ridgid 4512 table saw. I installed the blade and increased it to 3/4 inch as I believe that is the maximum width I will be using for the cut. It cuts superbly when paired with the Leecraft Zero Clearance Insert. I find the cuts pretty flat. in the end, like many other reviewers on the subject. The photo of this item is wrong. It's actually silver, not black. The big store "Big Orange" sells the exact same blade, but they are red and they are called Diablo. This is the DD208 model. I will say that you have to be VERY careful when installing the pad stack, that all the blades/washers/washers were flat next to each other. The slightest gap would cause your stack to spin out of circle, and I've also found that on the R4512 saw I can't use the outer shim if the stack is built up at 3 /4" . There are 2 threads or so going through the nut so it's safe and secure.I've read in other reviews that R4512 owners didn't know what to do with the riving knife locking lever. If you have your regular blade and riving knife to remove, simply leave the locking lever UNLOCKED in the vertical position, it is perfectly secure and you can still make a deep tenon without the lever touching the slack free socket, this is also covered in the Ridgid manual.
