Review on πŸ”„ Enhanced NGFF (M.2) Key A/E to PCI-E Express X1+USB Riser Card: Superior Performance with High Speed FPC Cable by Jason Lockwood

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works amazingly well for memory cards. Accessories

I bought this for a GPU (GT 1030) to try and connect to this weird board I imported from overseas that doesn't have a slot for GPU. It seems to work. I also had what appeared to be "bad soldering" as someone else mentioned in their review, but that doesn't affect performance. Rather, based on the picture they shared, I think their cable is reversed. In fact, I think the manufacturer ships the pre-installed cable upside down and you need to reverse it to make it work. Not sure why they did it, but obviously the side with the pins needs to face the PCB where the text is. You can see the text on her picture but not mine. I'm deducting 1 star because they ship this product with the cord down. But I subtracted another star for the shape of the circuit board. Annoyingly, the way the wires exit the board makes it incredibly difficult to install in a PCIe slot in a PC case. The ribbon cable needs to be pinched against the bottom of the case, and the power cables exit out the side facing the PCIe bracket, meaning there's very little room and you have to bend the cables to the point where it looks like they will damage the pins. .The best solution I found was to buy a second riser that connects to this one. So my PC has two risers. Annoying, but at least it works.

Pros
  • Memory card accessory
Cons
  • Big and bulky
