Block works great. I got it 7" thick as I needed 2 pieces about 3-1/2" thick and I just cut the block in half. it's two with a regular handsaw. I've found that you can quickly sculpt with 80 grit sandpaper and polish with 120 grit sandpaper. I use sandpaper on semi-rigid rubber bodied work blocks. I'm going to cover it with a sealed plastic coating that can be brushed off so I can vacuum my part.
